Brief Biography:
I was born in Moscow in Polish family,
studied in Moscow University, where in 1971 got PhD degree in Mathematics. In 1969 I moved to Poland, getting married to Witold Nosalski from Gliwice,
and got a position in Institute of Mathematics of Silesian University of Technology. In 1986
I finalized habilitation dissertation in combinatorial group theory in Wroclaw University,
in 1993 got a position of Professor of Silesian University of Technology and in 2005 I got from
President of Poland the title of Professor.
Research:
My research over many years has been in
Algebra, Combinatorial Group Theory with particular interest in semigroup laws in groups. The picture of
Groupland shows the
place of groups, satisfying positive laws among all groups.
My Erdös
Number is 4, and I was lucky to meet Erdös in 1978.
Administrative positions:
(in the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics)
Since 1973 - Chairman of Algebra Division; 1993 - 2002 - Vice-Dean for student affairs;
1997 - 2003 - Vice-Director for scientific research in Mathematics.
Honours: 1995 - "Silver Cross of Merits";
2000 - "Medal of the National Education".
